JOYCE WANG STUDIO REVEALS ITS FIRST HOSPITALITY DESIGN IN THE MIDDLE EAST WITH THE OPENING OF MOTT 32 DUBAI

Award-winning international design practice Joyce Wang Studio partners once again with hospitality group, Maximal Concept on its latest restaurant, Mott 32 Dubai. Having conceived of the interiors for Mott 32 in Hong Kong, Singapore, Vancouver and Las Vegas; for Dubai Joyce Wang Studio incorporated the design elements that make Mott 32 a dining destination for not only its delectable Chinese cuisine but also its exquisite interiors all the while considering the unique placement of the property and its breath-taking views of Bluewater Island, JBR, Palm Jumeirah and the Ain Dubai.

Joyce Wang Studio’s first hospitality design in the Middle East, Mott 32 Dubai is located on the 73rd floor of Address Beach Resort. Staying true to the restaurant’s roots, the interior seamlessly blends a lofty New York industrial style with Hong Kong opulence, imbuing the space with sleekness and elegance that is punctuated by unexpected details yet also recognises the restaurant’s well-placed

location. With its sky-high location and ocean views, Joyce Wang Studio introduces airy, ethereal aesthetics which relish its natural surroundings and make them both visible and accessible through the large sliding doors on to the urban jungle terrace.

Influenced by Arabic courtyard houses, which hold similarities to Mott 32’s interior architecture, the restaurant is split into a series of different spaces, from the Central Courtyard with spectacular open- air terrace, bar, private and semi-private dining rooms as well as side dining areas. Each space has been carefully curated to fulfil its own unique identity yet effortlessly flows between each interior and exterior space.

The central courtyard dining space ties the restaurant to other Mott 32 locations globally, while the octagonal dining space, unique to this property, extends onto the outdoor terrace.

The bar and lounge feature a series of references to Arabic culture and history, which plays out on to the wider design concept. The signature Mott 32 materiality of the bar area skilfully nods to the Arabic peninsula through its ochre tone of the tiles, forming a geometric pattern reminiscent of a modern take on Arabic sequences. The back bar embraces the high ceilings, stretching more traditional designs into skyscraper towers, set to a foliage of eglomise mirror.

Mott 32 houses one private dining room and two further semiprivate dining areas, each designed to create an intimate space for group bookings. The Oval Room which accommodates 10 guests in complete privacy boasts floor to ceiling windows, allowing guests to dine to a crystal-clear backdrop of the Dubai skyline.

The semi-private dining room, Iwan, features a hand-painted wall covering by Fromental, which takes its muse inspiration from the date palms iconic to the Arabic Peninsula. Framed Arabic and Chinese porcelain plates bring a luxury residential touch, while the sculptural forms defining the side dining space echo the fluidity of the ocean. Accommodating 14 guests, Joyce Wang Studio uses delicate current ringlets to house pendant lights over the table setting.

Accommodating 26 guests, the Dune Chamber has been designed as an opulent residential chamber, with walls housing a series of Arabic Chinese porcelain artifacts within intricate metal shelves, while framed hand painted Chinoiserie adorn the intimate space. The softly lit vaulted ceiling uses reflective tiles to emulate a sunset on sand dunes, casting the space in a warm golden glow.

Joyce Wang, founder of Joyce Wang Studio says: “It has been a pleasure to bring this design to life. Mott 32 is a brand we have worked on for many years and it has been a privilege to evolve the design to stay true to the restaurant’s roots of Hong Kong opulence yet add a flavour of Dubai.”

Mott 32’s latest Dubai location is a testament to its commitment to exceptional design and unparalleled dining experiences. The restaurant is now open and available for reservations.
