Step inside the newly designed office at 45 Rockefeller Plaza, where vintage Art Deco elements effortlessly blend with modern minimalism to create a sophisticated work environment. Crafted by Gensler, this remarkable space for a confidential investment firm achieves a fine balance between corporate gravitas and employee comfort.
The transformation began with the strategic removal of floor slabs, opening up grand double-height spaces filled with natural light. Central to this rejuvenation is a glass-box mezzanine library, resting atop plush rust-colored silk-wool broadloom flooring—a bold nod to classic luxury. Just below, the reception lounge radiates a residential charm, featuring a Nakashima Edition rug, nesting Guilherme Torres tables, and Minotti sofas.
Throughout the office, understated metal accents—like Stickbulb’s nickel chandeliers in the 20-foot boardroom—pay homage to the building’s historic 1933 Art Deco roots. The double-height ceilings and geometric details create a dramatic, timeless ambiance while allowing for ample daylight and openness.
Pockets of greenery and biophilic touches soften the bold architecture, adding wellness benefits and a hint of urban retreat to the bustling workspace. The combination of plush materials, iconic furniture, and restorative plant life provides an inviting atmosphere that fosters creativity and productivity.
Workspace as Residential Retreat
This New York office isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about a new philosophy for workspace transformation. The residential feel in the reception and lounge makes for a welcoming environment, redefining how employees experience everyday work settings.

The modern-meets-vintage masterpiece is the result of collaboration between a dynamic team: Laurent Lisimachio, Juliette Poussot, Joe Hynn Yang, Alessandra Shorten, Naomi Nottingham, Fanch Tseng, Askly Chirayil, Kathryn Morse, Audrey Strom, and Tyler Dennison.
